Avec La Commande du Morse, le photographe Guillaume Simoneau met à profit la distance nous séparant aujourd’hui de la crise sociale de 2012 afin d’interroger la mémoire collective qui s’est construite autour de cet épisode historique. Le livre présente une œuvre photographique où Simoneau privilégie un recul physique par rapport à l’épicentre des événements, point de vue qui se traduit notamment par la position choisie pour la prise de vue, l’autonomie quant au choix des sujets et la transcription de sa temporalité. Puisant dans une multitude de genres photographiques, le travail de Simoneau est présenté dans une narration fragmentée et subjective, offrant une lecture photographique à la fois engageante et intrigante, mettant en échec notre besoin incessant d’embrasser la totalité des événements hautement médiatisés.

The book presents photographic works in which Simoneau privileges a physical retreat from the epicenter of events, a point of view that is particularly reflected in the position chosen for the shooting, the autonomy regarding the choice of subjects, and the transcription of their temporality. Drawing from a multitude of photographic genres, Simoneau’s work is presented as a fragmented and subjective narrative, offering a photographic reading that is both engaging and intriguing—and one that challenges our incessant need to access events through typical forms of mediation.
